The portrait process begins with a meeting between artist and client in conjunction with the initial sitting. This can take place in Charleston or another location of the client’s choosing. Following discussion of the overall vision for the portrait, photographs are made to be used for reference back in the studio. During the time Leah spends with the subject and their family, she aims to gain as much insight as possible into the individual’s personality and characteristics, so that they are evident in the final portrait.
Upon returning to the studio, Leah uses her references to ensure the original vision shared between client and artist is maintained. The client can expect the portrait be completed with a final sitting generally within nine to twelve months of the initial sitting.
One third of the total portrait price is required to confirm an accepted commission and commence the portrait process. This deposit is nonrefundable. The remainder of the balance is due at the the final sitting upon approval of the portrait. Prices do not include framing, but Leah would be glad to assist you in the selection of a frame. Travel and shipping expenses are additional.
